Clearly with this many reviews and a solid 4 1/2 stars, this Mexican joint is a winner. First time my family tried it and we knew it would be good when there was a 35 minute wait and nothing but Latinx patrons came and went. We were definitely happy with our experience minus a couple things. It’s a big restaurant in the heart of town. There are always lots of people here so don’t be in a rush to get seated, especially with a larger group. 35 minutes seems to be the average wait time and they mean it. They do not take reservations. It’s very lively inside and a bit crowded but not in a bad way. Mariachi band plays for guests, for a decent tip I’m sure, but if any table near yours hires them you get to hear the music loud and clear. It’s a fun, authentic touch. It can get loud so maybe not a place for heavy conversations. Large menu with lots of authentic Mexican dishes, as well as some Mexican inspired sushi rolls. Take your time with the menu especially if you’re not used to more authentic Mexican food. This isn’t a place that caters to Anglo versions of Mexican food. Food is fantastic though our cheese enchiladas left us disappointed. Hopefully they simply forgot them and had to rush them out. Otherwise everything else was really good. The refried beans here are some of the best we’ve had which means they know what they’re doing. You should absolutely come here for a special Mexican dinner experience or to impress your visitors with a fun Mexican night out. This is the spot.
UPDATE: I have since returned to this place 4 or 5 times. I am happy to say everything is a 10/10. I highly recommend. I am really upset that as a black patron, twice on two separate visits, I have had to ask for my food. The bartender has great customer service, but should have noticed I had not received my food. Then to throw the fish back on the grill, bring it out dry as hell and send me cold ass asparagus??? 🤯 Did the manager come out? NO! I will be removing this place from my concierge list.
